Stress Management Series
Our country is currently facing an epidemic of stress and anxiety related disorders such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, depression and anxiety. Symptoms of stress may include anxiety, insomnia, poor concentration, irritability, GI upset or mood swings. You may be juggling family, work and other responsibilities—all while being connected 24/7—leading to stress and anxiety. Sound familiar? This series is for you!
In this series, participants will have an opportunity to experiment with various stress reduction techniques. In this course, we will cover:
- An overview of stress and the physiological impact to the body and mind.
- Techniques for reducing stress such as yoga postures, breathing techniques, deep relaxation, mindfulness and more.
- Habit evolution, ongoing support and establishing individual “toolkits”
This series is typically offered on a referral basis from a primary care physician. Please contact me for additional information and to learn about the next series. The course can also be shared on a private or small group basis.
Sunrise Yoga Immersion Series
Immerse yourself in the Integral Yoga core practices of asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), yoga nidra (deep relaxation) and meditation. This series is perfect for both those who are new to yoga and those who are experienced practitioners. Practicing in a group environment promotes healthy habit evolution and connection, while allowing the practitioner to develop both mental and physical stamina and strength. We will sprinkle in a few teachings from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as well.
Introduction to Ayurveda*
In this workshop, we will review the 5,000 year old system of medicine and the sister science of yoga that has been continuously practiced as a holistic approach to well-being. Ayurveda is such a vast science that it can quickly become overwhelming. This workshop is designed to help you learn accessible practices for prevention and healing that can easily be incorporated into your day.
We will discuss the doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) and characteristics of balanced and unbalanced doshas. We will go into detail and experiment with dinacharya, the daily routine that is the foundation for well being and optimal health. We will discuss strategies to improve digestion and using food as medicine. Depending on the setting, we may even enjoy taste testing a sampling of Ayurvedic foods.
Simple Ayurvedic Seasonal Cleanses, Spring and Fall
In this workshop, we will discuss the importance of seasonal cleansing to boost the immune system, improve digestion, foster clarity, balanced sleep and promote optimal health. We will discuss ama (toxins), the lymphatic system, preparing for a cleanse, recipes, asana (physical postures) and pranayama (breathing practices) and other practices to support the physical and mental cleansing process. We will discuss keys for success and post-cleanse integration.
Introduction to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali*
In this workshop, we will discuss the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the seminal text on Yoga. We will apply the ancient wisdom to our modern lives. We will explore the definition of yoga, practice and non-attachment, how to be established in practice, the eight limbs, yamas (restraints) and niyamas (observances), pratipaksha bhavana (practice to change negative thinking), the four locks and keys and more.
*These courses have also been tailored to serve as complementary course work during yoga teacher training programs to expand the students foundational knowledge of Yoga and/or Ayurveda.
