Dosha Balancing Yoga

Ayurveda provides a framework for us to understand how the five elements of ether, air, fire, water, and earth uniquely combine to create the the three doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, As the doshas fluctuate based on the environment, stage of life, season, diet, and lifestyle choices, they influence our physical, emotional, and mental states. Balancing the doshas is key to obtaining and maintaining good mental, emotional and physical health. In this class, we will make Ayurvedic adjustments to the asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation with the intention to promote balancing of your dosha.  For example, in the summer, we will adjust our practice to incorporate poses that release heat and introduce cooling breaths. In the spring, we can add movements that free congestion that may have accumulated over the winter. In the fall, we will focus on creating warmth and grounding.
